Spider-Noir - Official Teaser

Spider-Noir looks like it’s going to stand out as one of Marvel’s boldest projects so far. The show drops us into a gritty, rain-soaked New York in the 1930s—a perfect place for a hero who’s slipped through the cracks of time. And right in the thick of it? Ben Reilly.

Although he’s nothing like the Ben Reilly you think you know.

In Spider-Noir, you meet Ben Reilly—an old, battered private eye just scraping by in a city rotting from the inside out. Don’t let the rumpled coat and weary scowl fool you, though. Ben’s hiding something big: he used to be New York’s only superhero.

He thought he had left all that behind. But now, as shadows from his past creep back into his life and old enemies start circling, Ben can’t keep running from who he was. The city that once leaned on Spider-Man Noir might need him one last time, and Ben has to figure out if he’s still got it—or if he even wants to try.

Picture the mood: gritty stories, lots of cigarette smoke, grimy office windows, and nothing is ever black and white. This is classic noir, shaken up with the weight of masks and missed chances.

Nicolas Cage takes on Ben Reilly, also known as Spider-Noir. He’s no stranger to the character, since he voiced Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. People couldn’t get enough of his dark, deadpan style, so getting to watch Cage actually play the role on screen feels like a real treat.

The rest of the cast includes Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson

Spider-Noir isn’t your usual superhero story. Right away, you feel the shift—it grabs its mood straight from those old-school noir films: shadowy alleys, rain-soaked nights, everything tinged with regret. Instead of a fresh-faced hero, you get someone older, rough around the edges, still wrestling with his past and searching for some kind of redemption. The 1930s backdrop only adds to the vibe; it’s a slice of Marvel history you rarely see.

But what really sets it apart? It cares more about tangled emotions and real human struggles than wild special effects. It’s moody. Character-focused. Less about big fights, more about mysteries and that gnawing sense of trying to do what’s right even when you’re broken. For Marvel, it feels different—in the best way.

Release Date in Australia
