Oz Comic Con Melbourne 2022 Recap

Updated: Jun 22

The weekend of the 11-12th June was Oz-Comic Con Melbourne 2022. It was great to get back to the conventions again after so long. For me, it was the cosplayers, roaming around and taking photos of characters. Amazing costumes and, as usual, the Cosplay community was nothing but accommodating to pose for photos.

The event was packed with its large range of exhibitors & artists, collectible stalls, TV & film guests and discussion panels. With TV guests such as Aimee Garcia (Dexter, Lucifer and and “The Addams Family” in theatres Oct 31) and Kevin Alejandro (Lucifer) to name a few.

The Star Wars photo boot was the standout, complete with the Emperor's throne and background. It was 'The' location for all Star Wars fans to have their photo taken, surrounded by well-known characters from the franchise.

Really impressive were the R2 D2 Droids freely roaming the convention. These droids were built by the R2 D2 Builders Club and remote-controlled to cleverly interact with the crowds. Even the L0-LA59 (Lola) Droid from the OBI-Wan Kenobi series made an appearance.

Hasbro is set to release the Droid later this year, pre-order at Amazon.

One of my favourite photos taken at Comic-Con is this Rey Skywalker at the Star Wars booth. I felt converting to black and white gave it that dramatic feel.

By far the best costumes would have to be these three little Jawas. Everyone wanted a photo of these three cute kids who pull off the costumes so well.

Looking forward to next year's Comic-Con. The only disappointment was I didn't take enough photos. The following video features the photos and videos captured on the 12th of June.

If you see yourself or know any of the cosplayers in the video please reach out and I would be happy to send a copy of the photo.
