The red-band trailer thrusts Johnny Cage—played by Karl Urban—into the spotlight, showcasing his comedic swagger, infamous shades, and a storyline fuelled by self-aware quips and showmanship.

The opening scene finds Cage in a dive bar, rehearsing quips and facing identity crises, until Raiden (Tadanobu Asano) and Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee) inform him he's been “chosen” to fight in the Mortal Kombat tournament—while Earthrealm hangs in the balance.

Blasts of brutal tournament footage follow: battles include Cage vs Kitana (Adeline Rudolph), Jax (Mehcad Brooks) vs Jade (Tati Gabrielle) and Kitana, and iconic chaos from Scorpion (Hiroyuki Sanada) and Noob Saibot (Joe Taslim). Baraka (CJ Bloomfield) and Sindel (Ana Thu Nguyen) make memorable appearances, notably with Sindel’s signature piercing scream.

With Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage stealing the show, a stacked roster of classic and new fighters, and the looming threat of Shao Kahn, Mortal Kombat II gears up to deliver exactly what fans crave: gore, grit, and gladiatorial spectacle. Expect smart meta humour, brutal fatalities, and old-school tournament nostalgia when it lands in theaters this October.
