Knight Rider Heads to the Big Screen? Cobra Kai Creators in Early Talks

Strap in, nostalgia fans — Knight Rider could be making a return, and this time it’s heading for the big screen.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg are reportedly in early talks to adapt the iconic 1980s TV series into a feature film. While nothing is officially green-lit yet, the idea alone has sparked plenty of excitement and debate.

After all, few TV cars are as legendary as KITT, the wise-cracking, AI-powered Pontiac Trans Am that helped define an era.

Why the Cobra Kai Team Makes Sense

Hurwitz and Schlossberg have already proven they know how to handle beloved franchises. With its mega hit on Netflix Cobra Kai successfully balanced:

  • Nostalgia without feeling outdated

  • Modern storytelling with respect for the original

  • Legacy characters mixed with fresh faces

That combination could be exactly what Knight Rider needs. The original series, which ran from 1982 to 1986, followed Michael Knight, a lone crimefighter partnered with an advanced talking car a premise that feels surprisingly relevant in today’s AI-obsessed world.
